Week 17

My new slacks are a little tight around the waist. But, I can see my abs getting more compact - at least they feel that way. My arms and legs are definitely getting more muscular from yoga and doing hand weights at home. I was joking around that I could probably crack shells with my thighs or look like a cast member of the 300.

The weekend was great. Took yoga both Saturday and Sunday...Sunday's class was the best, we did a lot of push ups in between our poses which were just killer. Because the room gets so warm during class, you can actually push your body to new limits with the stretches. I had a dream on Friday night that I was able to do the splits and could actually feel my body doing it. Unfortunately, it was just a dream.
Anyway here's the recap.

Week 16

Four more months till Hawaii. I've been getting refocused on my diet and exercise since Wednesday of last week. I've been skimming through a new book for weight training for women - getting new ideas for strength training workouts at home. So far, it's been good. Over the past year, I've forgotten how rewarding weight training can be at home - it's convenient and still kicks my ass.

I had a pretty packed weekend planned - but my main Saturday and Sunday plans got cancelled last minute. It was a blessing in disguise since both plans involved tempting carb-filled foods. On Saturday, I was supposed to go to this new afternoon tea place with my cousin for my belated birthday celebration - but she cancelled on Thursday with a cold. On Sunday, my yoga friends and I were supposed to head over to Julian, a quaint old gold mining town near San Diego for a four mile hike to a waterfall and then for apple pie. On Friday, we got an e-mail from our hiking leader that he injured his neck while sleeping after yoga. So, whew...saved me from the temptation of being near fresh baked pies and apple cider donuts.

Week 15

It's great that YoungVeezy keeps track of his weeks, b/c I am horrible at it. But I know definitely that I am one behind him. Changes in my appearance has been slow, but I'm not discouraged. In fact, this week I can see and feel a difference in my triceps from doing more push-ups and weights. My legs are firming up too. So, I'm trying to stay focused on the little victories. I have to since our trip to Hawaii is four months away.

I read another great article (it's old) on the science behind eating and eating right for your particular body type. The more I read, the more happy I am with being on TNT.

Back Pain

Ugh, I hope its temporary. What I've noticed is that once I started my bad habit of sleeping on the couch and sleeping on our old bed, its been really hard to sleep because of pain to my lower back and midsection. What I may start doing is sitting on my balance ball or a hard chair to prevent myself from getting in bad form. This too has been affecting my sleep at nights.
I haven't been doing this, but I am going to start to do more core work to help out my back muscles. Running has also been putting stress on my lower back as well. Speaking of back pain..I have to run to my chiropractor now. Hopefully he can straighten things out in the meantime (no pun intended)
